Kyah Johnstone

Registered Psychologist

Kyah is a fully registered psychologist (registration no. PSY0001967143). Her professional experience extends across community mental health including roles in trauma counselling for people with complex diagnoses and case management. 

Kyah provides treatment for adult issues including the following:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Adult survivors of childhood abuse and neglect
  • Anxiety disorders 
  • Mood disorders - Depression and Bipolar Disorder
  • Emotion regulation difficulties
  • Workplace stress, conflict and career issues
  • Coping with major-life transitions – such as changes in relationships, family, work/ study
  • Drug and alcohol misuse
  • Body-image issues and difficulties with food

Therapeutic Approach

Kyah provides a safe, non-judgemental environment through warmth, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. She offers a range of therapeutic approaches that may include providing a supportive space for personal reflection, goal-directed therapy that is focused on achieving a particular outcome, as well as more in-depth, trauma-informed therapies. Kyah will work with you to gain a shared understanding of your current difficulties and strengths whilst developing a collaborative road map to reaching your therapy goals. Kyah utilises a feedback informed treatment approach that seeks to ensure clients therapy experience and support is in line with their needs. 

Kyah draws upon a range of evidence-based treatments to work effectively with clients including: 

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
  • Prolonged Exposure
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Informed Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
